Villa Taranto - Lake Maggoire- Italy

These magnificent gardens were created by a Scotsman - Neil Boyd McEacharn and first opened to the public in 1952. The gardens contain over 20000 varieties and species of plants and 7 km of paths. These gardens are best reached using the boats that provide a frequent service around this part of the lake. It is best to get a "rover" ticket and then you can get off to see the gardens on Isola Bella, Isola Madre as well as some lovely public parks in Stresa, Baveno and Pallanza.
